Q1 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Regarding to the GDM-825xA series, what is different between REL and REL# function?

The REL and REL# are relative value measurement function. The REL and REL# are relative value measurement function.

  • For REL: It directly captures the current primary display value shows on secondary display as the relative value. For example, a 2-wire resistance measurement, to eliminate the residual resistance of test leads.
  • For REL#: It allows user to key in a certain number as a relative value, then to display the difference between the relative value and the input measurement on primary display. For example, if the relative value is 10.0000 V and the present inputmeasurement is 14.1000 V, the display will show 4.1000 V.
Q2 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Regarding to Scanner Card (GDM-SC1), could GDM-8255A memorizes the channels setting in the user-default?

No. Due to the scanner card setting is saved at the volatized memory of GDM-8255A, thus it is unable to be saved into the user-default.

Q3 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Why the GDM-825xA series can not remember the last condition whilst turn the power on?

The GDM-825xA series is always running the factory-default condition when every time turns the power back on. To keep last condition for the next time power on, you should save the current condition as a user-default and then set the user-default to replace the factory-default when turn the GDM-825xA series back on at every time. For the method to save & recall a user-default, please refer to Save / Recall chapter in user manual.

Q4 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png What is the dual display measurement for the GDM-825xA series?

The GDM-825xA series provide two display meters; it allows using the 1st display to show one measuring item and using the 2nd display to show another item, thus viewing two different measurement results at once. The following table shows the available options:

●:Available, ─:Not available

1st Display 2nd Display
  ACV DCV ACI DCI Hz/P
ACV
DCV
ACV+DCV
ACI
DCI
ACI+DCI
2W* (see Note)
Hz/P
°C/°F

Note In the dual display mode, the resistance needs to be larger than 1MΩ.
Q5 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Does any require for RS232 cable whilst connecting with GDM-825xA series?

Yes, you need to use the Null Modem cable which the transmit (TxD) and receive (RxD) lines are cross-linked.

Q6 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png What is the message terminator for GDM-825xA series?

The GDM-825xA series accept only LF (line feed) as the message terminator whilst giving a command.

Q7 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png What is the RS232 configuration for GDM-825xA series?

The GDM-825xA series RS232 configuration as below:

RS-232 configuration Connector DB-9, Male
  Baud rate 115200 (default)
  Data bit 8
  Parity None
  Stop bit 1
  Flow control None
Q8 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Regarding to GDM-825xA series, what is the Calibration Key (GDM-01) used for?

The Calibration key (GDM-01) is used for firmware upgrade.

Q9 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png The GDM-825xA series performance does not match the specifications.

Make sure the device is powered On for at least 30 minutes, within +18°C~+28°C. This is necessary to stabilize the unit to match the specifications.

Q10 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Regarding to GDM-825xA series, I pressed the EXIT key but cannot get out of Scanner mode.

Press the EXIT key, followed by the ACV (Scan) or DCV (Step) key.

Q11 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Regarding to GDM-825xA series, what is the Output key used for?

The Output key is used for turning the display output on or off.

Q12 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png What is different between GDM-8255A and GDM-8251A?
  • The maximum display counts different. GDM-8255A provides 199999 counts for 1st display meter, and then GDM-8251A provides 120000 counts for 1st display meter.
  • Rear Panel different. GDM-8255A provides two slots on the rear panel for plug-in optional scanner card. Due to the GDM-8251A is unable to work with optional scanner card. Therefore, GDM-8251A does not provide the reserve optional slot on the rear panel.
