If you press the Delete all, the information will be completely removed, can not be restore again, when using this feature need to pay more attention.

The default interface provided by the AFG-3000 is RS-232 interface. This interface doesn’t provide plug and play function. But if the interface is set to USB Port, the system will active the Plug and Play function, then only through combining with downloaded driver(website download area), the device can be installed. As for the GPIB interface, supported software is needed to detect the status of this device.

The customer could use an adaptor (High Z: 1MΩ~ 50Ω) to connect GFG-3015. GWInstek have provided this useful adaptor ADP-101 which is BNC (J/F) 75 Ω ~ BNC (P/M) 50 Ω. With this useful adaptor ADP-101, they will save the confused issue in measuring double Amplitude.

If the duty cycle is set to significant ratio, say 99:1 at 4MHz ,the 1% of frequency of 4MHz will be much higher than 4MHz,thus it is over the bandwidth the FG specified. Therefore, the lower frequency limit of duty cycle specification is indicated.

Q8 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Why the output signal displayed on oscilloscope is 1Vpp, but when feeding the signal to DUT(Device Under Test),the amplitude is only 0.5 Vpp ?

That’s because the input impedance of oscilloscope is 1MΩ, but function generator’s output impedance is 50Ω.
If the DUT load is also 50Ω and it is connected to a function generator, the oscilloscope will measure half of the amplitude. For function generators like AFG-2225, MFG-2000 and AFG -3000 series, etc. the displayed amplitude is based on 50Ω load.
For example, if the displayed is 1Vpp that means the voltage on the connected 50Ω load. If we disconnect the load and use oscilloscope to measure the voltage directly, 2Vpp will be measured by the oscilloscope.
The setting output voltage value on the AFG is defined as the value when the load used is 50ohm. When the load used is not 50ohm, a different output voltage will produce.

DDS FG is better than traditional FG in most of the applications. For example: the narrow pulse, ARB....etc.Because of the frequency stability and low distortion, the DDS is more adaptive as a signal source. Only in the few cases like higher frequency triangle wave and external FM function, the traditional function generators have better functionality.

In order to have straight charge and discharge curve of triangle wave, the number needed of data point is more than sine and square waves. In the case of less data point of triangle wave, the loss pass filter will make it look like sine wave.
