GW Instek and Taiwan’s Tech Sector Celebrate 50 Years of Industrial Innovation and Community Impact

By GW Instek — New Taipei City, Taiwan

Tucked away in the manufacturing landscape of Asia, Tucheng Industrial Park in New Taipei City, Taiwan, may not be a household name globally — but for half a century, it has played a quiet yet crucial role in shaping the global technology supply chain. As the park marked its 50th anniversary in late September 2025, the milestone was more than a historical celebration. It became a live case study of how Taiwan’s industrial sector is confronting climate change, embracing digital transformation, and redefining its legacy for a sustainable future.

A Golden Autumn for Industrial Collaboration

Themed “Transforming Soil into Gold: Crossing the Next Fifty Together”, the celebrations reached their climax during a golden autumn weekend. Local government officials, dignitaries, and leaders from over 300 companies operating within the park gathered to commemorate the moment — representing a district that generates an annual production value exceeding NT$108 billion (approx. USD 3.3 billion).

Bridging Industrial Legacy and Future Innovation

The centrepiece of the anniversary was a symbolicGear Activationceremony, reflecting the perpetual drive of industrial spirit. Veterans of the park — many of whom have operated on site for more than five decades — jointly cut the ceremonial cake, a shared tribute to years of resilience and progress.

Among the headline attendees was Foxconn Technology Group, a name synonymous with Taiwan’s role in global tech manufacturing. Yet the true strength of Tucheng lies not only in its giants, but in its resilient and diversified mid-sized enterprises. GW Instek (Good Will Instrument Co., Ltd.), a global name in precision electronic test and measurement instruments, exemplifies this robust foundation. Celebrating its own 50th anniversary this year, GW Instek was represented by Chairman C. C. Lin and Deputy General Manager Sara Lin, underscoring the park’s expansive expertise — from traditional industries to cutting-edge electronics.

A Vision Aligned with Global ESG Goals

The event also served as a platform to communicate Tucheng’s transformation vision, as echoed in New Taipei’s initiatives such as its Carbon Health Check Centre and Green Energy Promotion Scheme. For firms like GW Instek, their presence signalled more than local pride — it reflected a broader ambition to align Taiwan’s industrial base with global ESG standards (Environmental, Social and Governance). It is a message that Taiwan’s “old guard” industrial parks are not relics, but active agents of sustainable reinvention.

Community First: ESG in Practice

What made this celebration newsworthy, however, was its commitment to community engagement and public good, extending far beyond corporate formalities. A “Happiness Market” brought factory discounts to local residents, alongside DIY family workshops and smallholder farmer stalls, transforming the industrial zone into a bustling, inclusive community fair. Meanwhile, a mass blood donation campaign, organised by the park’s Industrial Association and supported enthusiastically by tenant companies, broke donation records — a vivid demonstration of corporate citizenship in action.

GW Instek emerged as a model ESG contributor, actively supporting these efforts. Its staff took to the streets — literally — in hi-vis vests to clean public spaces as part of the “Clean Home Neighbourhood Project”. The company also adopted roadside trees, committing resources to their maintenance and the park’s green ambience under the “Tree Adoption and Landscape Sustainability” programme. Though seemingly modest, these gestures highlight a deeper truth: Taiwan’s industries are increasingly investing not just in output, but in co-existence with the land and shared prosperity with the communities they serve.

A Future Built on Collaboration and Sustainability

The collective motto repeated by many attending firms — “Share, Cooperate, Thrive” — captured the spirit of the occasion. The 50th anniversary of Tucheng Industrial Park, coinciding with that of GW Instek, symbolises more than survival. It signals the birth of an industrial ecosystem that is capable of reinvention, community integration, and sustainable growth.

In an age where corporate social responsibility is not an option but a global benchmark, Tucheng is proving that traditional industrial zones can transform into industrial lighthouses for the 21st century — shining a light on the promise of green, smart manufacturing.

And this promise deserves the attention of global investors, policymakers, and the public alike.
